Several Griffins players have gone on to play lacrosse in college and on club teams after graduating from Los Alamitos High School.  All updates are current for the Spring 2012 season.

Allie Conrad - Arizona State University - Phoenix, AZ

Although she hung up her cleats and stick after high school, Allie Conrad’s record-setting contributions as a member of the Griffins lacrosse program won’t soon be forgotten.  She holds the record for most goals in a game (10) and shares the record for most goals in a season (82), most assists in a game (7) and most points in a game (11).  Allie has channeled her competitive ways into academics at Arizona State University, where she is enrolled in the Cronkite School of Journalism this year.

 Cameron Cowan - University of the Pacific - Stockton, CA

After playing attack four years for the Griffins, computer science major and first semester Dean's List honoree Cameron Cowan (Class of 2011) has continued his lacrosse career playing attack for the University of the Pacific Tigers.  The Tigers compete as a D2 program in the West Coast Lacrosse League, playing against the likes of UC Santa Cruz, Merced, Humboldt State and others.

Brad Brandenburg - Colorado Mesa University - Grand Junction, CO

Brad Brandenburg (Class of 2010) is now a Business Major at Colorado Mesa University.  He was the starting goalie for CMU last season, was ranked fifth in the nation for Division II goalies in save percentage, and earned team MVP and WILA Freshman of the Year honors.  He was named to the pre-season All-Western Team by Inside Lacrosse for the upcoming 2012 season.

Spencer Fuqua - Aurora University - Aurora, IL

 

Former LAHS defenseman Spencer Fuqua (Class of 2010) now plays long-stick middie for Aurora University in Illinois.  Majoring in History, he received Honorable Mention in the Midwest LAX Conference after his freshman season in 2011.

Melissa Hastie - Regis University - Denver, CO

Griffins standout Melissa Hastie (Class of 2011) is now a freshman Chemistry major gearing up for her first season as a LAX middie at Regis University in Denver.   Melissa was a four-year varsity player for Los Al and was named an All-American after her senior season when she led the team in ground balls, draw controls, interceptions and caused turnovers.  She is the school record holder in draw controls in a season and career, was a first team All-Sunset League selection, team captain and team MVP in 2011.  

Cary Smith - Chico State University - Chico, CA

 

Former Griffins defender Cary Smith (Class of ‘08) is now a Senior at Chico State University in Chico, CA.  The 6’2”, 205 lb.  defenseman plays on the Wildcats Club team against a variety of Division I and Division II foes.  But as you can see from the inset photo, he still carries a piece of Los Al Lacrosse with him where ever he goes.

Shelley Smith Sage - Brigham Young University - Provo

Former defender Shelley Smith Sage (Class of 2008) played for the Griffins during the first two years the girls' program was formed.  She is now a senior at Brigham Young University majoring in Elementary Education and plays defense on the highly ranked women's team that has compiled a 140-27 record over the past eight seasons.

Shaina Denny and Amiya Moretta - Whittier College - Whittier, CA

Best friends Shaina Denny (2010) and Amiya Moretta (2010) were key players for the Griffins during their CIF Championship seasons in 2009 and 2010.  Looking to continue those winning ways, they joined forces to play lacrosse at Whittier College in 2011.  Last season, as mid-fielder freshmen for the Poets, Moretta ranked third on the team as she tallied 30 goals while Denny led the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 84 goals, including 11 in one game against Occidental.  Both were named to the SCIAC All-Conference second team in 2011.
